The
origins of Anat's work lie in the drawing of a line. The
line - a two dimensional entity - is realized in solid
material, stands up in space, and justifies its new essence
by creating structures. In this new context, the elementary
and primal "line-word", becomes a source of
development and multiplication: variations of the line
join to form sentences in planes which in turn combine
to become statements in space. From ultimate minimalism,
Anat examines the possibility of expression and a new
language is created.
The choice of the "angus" as her building material
bridges the freshness of the creating force to its underlying
technology. The "angus" is a wax rod that is
used to build a system of passages when casting bronze:
inlets for pouring molten metal into the mold, and outlets
that let displaced air escape. In Anat's work the "angus"
is transformed: the tool becomes the creator. The technology
and the aesthetics it creates are one and the same. The
industrial "angus", essential and functional,
is used as a matter of personal choice, which surrenders
to the emotional fingerprint in Anat's quest to communicate.
