Chinese Experience 2015
Fuzhou, East South China June- July
Changbay Mountain, North China August
I had a very busy summer, with two trips to China.
The first one was via Hong Kong to Fuzhou. A very nice city situated in east south of China. Most of the sculptors arrived on the same day, the 22 of June. It was a friendly group of people, most of which I met before.
The organization placed us in a 4 star nice hotel. On the next day was the opening ceremony, where I gave a speech and welcomed all the sculptors and the organization.

255 cm.

It took one hour to reach the working camp by bus. We spent about four hours going from the hotel to work, for lunch and back. Than one of us suggested to bring lunch to the working place and the organization took us to a 5 star hotel for lunch. The food was fantastic as well as the service.
The work “Spreading Wings”, a bird on wheels with big spreading wings progressed gradually and received its shape.

The workers were professional and dedicated to their mission. Between the sculptors was a very friendly and a good atmosphere and interesting subjects where discussed. It is always such an enriching experience to meet people from different parts of the world.

I left before the end of the symposium because I had another one in north China, but before
I returned home for a month.
Changbay Mountain, north China
I arrived in Changbay Mountain in the morning of the 12 of August after a long trip from Tel Aviv, and one night in Beijing.
Changbay is a small city with outstanding parks, one of them is situated 2 minutes walk from our hotel. I walked there every morning. Nice, long and refreshing walks, taking pictures of the beautiful landscape and the many sculptures.

May be because I arrived much latter to the symposium from the other sculptors, I felt a little bit isolated. But they were very nice people, friendly and helpful. I made new friends and got acquainted with them, especially with two women - Gemma from Costa Rica and Snejana
from Bulgaria.
One of the best things in Changbay was the dancing. Every evening at 18.30 a lot of people, mostly women of all ages gathered opposite our hotel. After the music started all the women entered in several rows and started to move according to the rhythm of the music. It was a fantastic experience so liberating and so filling with joy and happiness.
