I was invited to attend the celebration ceremony of the opening of the new international sculpture park in Wuhu - a small town in south China (2 million inhabitants).
Heavens Harmony, third prize winner is a composition of six birds forming a circle symbolizing harmony.
Two of the birds are viewed as flying towards heaven.

It is a long way to travel for just one ceremony, even if so exciting.
After a journey of almost 24 hours I got to Wuhu and its wonderful Hotel Braim.

The first two days we took in some sightseeing to explore the city
And its surroundings
We visited a typical old Chinese house with its interesting old furniture
The Mao museum was also a learning and an exciting experience
All my colleagues, sculptors and myself were very happy to meet again, exchange impressions and discuss other issues common to all of us.

The second day, late afternoon, we finally got to the sculpture park; the real reason for our gathering. The park was fantastic especially by sunset.
Sixty six different, high level sculptures, were spread around a nice little lake.
Ten sculptures made by international sculptors and the others by Chinese sculptors.
First prize - Gheorghi Filin, Italy |

The evening was dedicated to an invested dinner party.
The atmosphere was friendly and happy, with everybody making toasts to everybody.
The next day was the big event, the opening ceremony. For all of us and especially for the Chinese, such a happening is of enormous importance and as such it is so invested in and cultivated. It was really exciting and also surprising for me because I received the third prize for my sculpture Heavens Harmony.
Immediately after the ceremony I had to rush to the airport in Nanjing (2 hours by car), to fly to Beijing and after four hours more to catch the EL AL flight home.
It was a fantastic short but sweet 10th Chinese experience.
