Flying Birds,
Exhibition in the Gliptoteka Hazu gallery of the

Croatian Academy
of science & art, June 2013

For the last 3 years we were planning this exhibition and the opening was on 4th
.
Konchar, metal constructions, is a large European metal factory with whom I built a very good relation and cooperation.
The Director Mr. Nusret Suvalic agreed to build the birds for the exhibition. An exhibition of metal sculptures is always difficult to execute because of the high cost of transportation.
When I arrived all the birds where cut and I worked together with the wonderful workers and engineers of the factory to connect the legs and wings to all the different size birds.

I am now involved with the subject of "journey" and wanted to build one work for the exhibition that would indicate this theme.
Because it was not planned in advance, like all the other work, I did not have the material. After looking around in the big hall of the factory I found all the material I needed in the big garbage can. It was taken out by the crane and I was extremely happy to build my journey.

The day of the installation of the exhibition arrived. Together with Mrs. Ariana Kralj the director and chief curator of Gliptoteka we transformed the big empty hall (30m long) into a world of fantastic imaginary birds that want to fly .

The opening was an enormous surprise for me. I was told that artists from abroad, that the people of Zagreb don't know, are sometimes totally alone in the big hall of the exhibition.

More than 100 people attended the opening. A lot of people from the Jewish Community, from Konchar and of course my old friends.

A very distinguished delegation arrived from Vinkovci, my birthplace,
The Director of the Town Museum Mr. Daniel Petkovic, the curator Mr. Ivica Belamaric and Dr. Drazen Svagelj who are the people organizing the transfer of this exhibition to Vinkovci and later the establishment of a sculpture park in memory of my late family Gross.

Never in my life did I have such a feeling of fulfillment and success.
So many people admired and approved my work.
Also the media was very generous and newspapers, weekly magazine Gloria and the Croatian Television reported my exhibition and donation for the memorial sculpture park in Vinkovci, in memory of family Gross that settled in Vinkovci in the 19 century.  The father of my grandfather established the Ferolim Factory, manufacturing iron trade.
I am the 4 th generation working with iron and so closing my life cycle this summer in Vinkovci.
